About

Robert Attwell

Innovation | Partnerships | Impact

Building businesses and breaking boundaries - I know how to take from the inception of an idea and get it done. Whether that means bringing new models into old spaces or transforming what is to the next 10x better, I would rather create the incredible instead of what is easiest to achieve.

Innovating on business models is fun and effective - I began my pursuit in entrepreneurship by developing a subscription model before these existed as a business model as the cofounder of the second largest bottled water company in BC, sold to Vivendi Universal, and while at Stockgroup Media, twenty years ago, built one of the first successful SaaS businesses before there was a word for SaaS, reaching $10m ARR in just two years.

Enabling leaders to do great things - I believe great people can do great things, they just need the right resources and energy to get there. My mission in life is to enable the people that want to have an impact on the world, both by developing the tools that can help others succeed, and by forming connections between people and organizations.

If you’re going to cycle 100 miles, you might as well do it with a smile - I love to cycle and I commit to hitting the roads in the early morning at least three times a week, regardless of the weather. Constantly improving means hard effort and commitment, and it’s your choice whether you suffer through it all, or you discover how to enjoy the challenge and opportunity to grow.

Using my expertise and experience for good. I usually do formal and informal mentorship for entrepreneurs and also deeply commit to one organization. I just completed a decade on the Board of the Neil Squire Society, serving as Board Chair and Past Chair. The Neil Squire Society, is a national not-for-profit organization empowering people with deep disabilities through advocacy, computer-based assistive technology, R&D, and multiple employment programs. We were able to triple the size of the organization and grow its programming.

Partnerships create impact at scale - Partnerships to me are more than transactional relationships. A successful partnership ignites energy, change, and acceleration within each organization, and adds to the culture of each organization. At the end of the day, the best business partners will grow together and leave each other better than when they first met.
